Inspirational Video Example

Hi All,

The Journal.ie covered this video this morning by one of our final year students studying Journalism in DCU, Laura Horan.

The video is very simple and straightforward but the message is powerful. I would encourage you to show it to your students to inspire them for their own video ideas.

It is an excellent example to show how an honest story of someone speaking from the heart can be very moving and powerful.

Enjoy.

Below is a link to the Apple Professional Development training which will take place in DCU on Monday 10th October 2016.

The workshop will take place from 9.30 to 12.30 (3 hours in duration) and is aimed at beginners and intermediate users of iPads in the Classroom.

Priority will be given to teachers delivering the UniTY modules, however it is available to any teachers in your school who may benefit from this type of training. Max 2 teachers from each school.

The training is free of charge and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Should places fill in the morning session, I will investigate a second session if the demand is there.

This can include topics like People who inspire me / Places that inspire me / Inspiration in my Community / Role Models to mention a few!

The Work of Charities
Marie Keating will be involved in this category, however we encourage students to find a charity that means something to them or who works in an area they want to know more about / Promote their work.

Friendship
This is probably the most general topic - the importance of Friendship / People who have been Friends for many years / How to make Friends - the list is endless here!

*************************

The Challenge:
To create a video that will be engaging and that you think your friends or others in your age group would be likely to share on social media. This video is a tool to communicate your message to the world.
You can include whatever you think is appropriate in the video to tell your story or communicate your message.

Length of video:
Your video must be a minimum of 90 seconds and a maximum of 3.5 minutes.

Hello Again, World!

This blog, formerly the UniTY Smart Skills Development Diary, is being extended to cover developments across the full range of UniTY courses: Multimedia, Smart Skills, Employability Skills, and Student Empowerment. Each article will be tagged with the course(s) to which it applies.

The blog has a new title and new domain, http://blog.unitydcu.ie, but is still hosted on Blogger as that is the most convenient platform for students and teachers to use for their own blogs, being integrated with Gmail and Google+. Links from the old domain are automatically redirected, so there is no need to update existing bookmarks.

As before, access to the blog is by invitation only and is restricted to teachers and guidance counsellors who have engaged with the UniTY programme. With this in mind, we encourage you to comment freely on any articles posted on the blog, and to use it to share experiences and start conversations with your peers in other schools.
